The Necronomicon Tarot is based on my book Necronomicon: The Wanderings of Alhazred,
my
recreation of H. P. Lovecraft's fabled Necronomicon, which is featured so
prominently in many of his stories. Abdul Alhazred, the author of the Necronomicon, undertook an epic
journey across Arabia, through Egypt, and over most of Muslim world, in
search of forbidden knowledge. What he encountered on his wanderings is
depicted on the cards, which are beautifully painted by the artist Anne
Stokes. The box contains not only the 78 cards of the Tarot, but the
book Secrets of the Necronomicon,
and
a cloth drawstring bag to hold the cards. (Llewellyn Publications, 2007) |
