ENOCHIAN MAGIC FOR BEGINNERS

In this book I have accomplished for Enochian magic what I was previously able to do for the Three Books of Occult Philosophy -- to systematically organize, correct and reveal the subject in such a way that anyone with a desire to study Enochian magic will be able to learn it.

Presently, the Enochian system of magic is in a chaotic state. Nowhere is the complete, original system that was actually transmitted by the Enochian angels to Edward Kelley published in a single text. The majority of books are based on the system of Enochian magic developed and used within the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. This is probably the most popular form of Enochian magic, because it was used and taught by Aleister Crowley to his disciples and appears in his published books. However, it bears only a remote resemblance to the system conveyed to Dee and Kelley by the angels.

Parts of the documents that contain the original system have been published in a fragmentary and imperfect form. However, these are difficult for the average reader to comprehend, because they consist of large blocks of Dee's actual magical diaries. The diaries often contain serious errors and gaps. The angels were in the habit of transmitting their system of magic out of its natural chronological order. They deliberately held back certain crucial details from Dee -- probably to insure that he would not work the magic without their expressed permission (this permission was never given to Dee).

The raw text of Dee's diaries is fine for those who already know a considerable amount about Enochian magic, and the relationship and magical methods of Dee and Kelley. It will only bewilder the novice, who desperately needs a clear overview of the entire original system of Enochian magic.

Enochian Magic For Beginners explains who Dee and Kelley were, exactly what their relationship was to each other, their travels and adventures together, and their methods for communicating with the Enochian angels. The instruments and furnishings of Enochian magic, as dictated by the angels, are described in detail. Kelley's scrying method is examined. Space is devoted to the motivations of the Enochian angels, their true nature and philosophical beliefs, and their attitude toward Dee and Kelley.

For the first time the entire original system of Enochian magic is laid out in its proper sequence. I have personally redrawn all of the numerous Enochian sigils, seals, and squares, in the process correcting many errors. The magical significance behind the complex web of Enochian symbolism is treated in great detail. In places it has been possible to fill in portions of the material missing from Dee's diaries. Elsewhere, I've speculated about ways in which the system presented by the angels may be further extrapolated -- while always taking care to label these parts of the book as my own speculations in order to avoid confusion. One of these extrapolations is a complete Enochian grimoire of evocation, which occupies an appendix of the book. This grimoire is based upon directions provided by the angels to Dee, and Dee's subsequent flawed attempt to write the grimoire himself.

Enochian Magic For Beginners not only provides an excellent overview for those recently introduced to the wonders of Enochian magic, but also contains a wealth of important corrections and completely new material that will be of immense value to experienced and knowledgeable Enochian magicians.
